20 Public University Heads To Share Expertise On Assisting Community

BALIK PULAU, Dec 19 (Bernama) -- Public university vice-chancellors and rectors nationwide will share their expertise to help raise the standard of education and local community skills at a special meeting here.

Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) Vice-Chancellor Prof Emiritus Datuk Dr Kamarudin Hussin said the meeting tomorrow involving vice-chancellors and rectors from 20 public universities would touch on implementing government decisions, policies and strategies to achieve the transformation of the Malaysian community into a developed nation.

"In the meeting at a hotel here, we will also discuss how to raise sources of income for universities, besides sharing expertise to helping the local community with basic necessities.

He was speaking to Bernama after opening a corporate social responsibility programme in conjunction with the Public University Vice-Chancellors and Rectors Committee (JKNC/R) meeting at the National Park near Teluk Bahang near here today.

The public universities in the 2015 Fourth JKNC/R included Universiti Sains Malaysia as host, UniMAP, Universiti Malaya, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, Universiti Putra Malaysia, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Universiti Teknologi MARA and Universiti Islam Antarabangsa Malaysia.

The other universities involved were Universiti Malaysia Sabah, Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris and Universiti Pertahanan National Malaysia.
