The Threat Of Is Militants To National Security Seminar At UniMAP

Kangar, 22 December – The Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) community especially students have been reminded not to be influenced by the Islamic State (IS) movement which misuses religion to legitimise the cruelty inflicted by the group.

UniMAP Vice Chancellor Datuk Prof Emeritus Dr Kamarudin Hussin said that UniMAP has conducted various initiatives including cooperation with the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) to raise awareness on the danger of the IS threat.

“Organising seminars such as this would more or less help UniMAP employees and students understand IS and how they could threaten our national harmony.

“Therefore, UniMAP and PDRM could be considered a connecting bridge to share information and challenges on the IS threat,” he spoke during the Threat of IS Militants to National Security Seminar which was organised by the Training Unit of the Registrar at Dewan Kapitol here today.

He said that any inclination for anyone in the UniMAP community toward the movement will be detected early and prevent any untoward incidents from occurring in the country because of the good relations UniMAP has with PDRM.

The seminar was presented by Principal Assistant Director of the Special Branch Counter-Terrorism Division Bukit Aman Senior Assistant Commissioner (SAC) Dato’ Ayob Khan Maidin Pitchay to almost 300 UniMAP students and employees and a number Perlis Special Branch police officers who attended.
