UniMAP Microelectronic Student Won Cas Award Three Consecutive Years
Tronoh, Oct. 28 - A student from University Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) was selected as a recipient for the Innovation Award of Circuits and Systems Society (CAS) by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (IEEE) Circuit and Systems Malaysia at University Teknologi Petronas (UTP).
The student is from School of Electronic Engineering (PPK) Microelectronics, Muhammad Rizwan Che Noh and his supervisors, Mohd Natashah Norizan and Ili Salwani Mohamad received the award at the 2015 IEEE CAS Malaysia Chapter Hi-Tea.
In the event themed "Internet of Things (IoT) for Sustainable Living", Rizwan has received a cash prize of RM 100 and a certificate of IEEE CAS Innovation Award through his project Development of Smart Cleaning System for Photovoltaic Module. The other two winners receiving award from the same category were Suraya Binti Fila Ruzaidi (UTP) and Lee Xin Yi from Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM).
For the record, UniMAP students of the same school and course have been receiving the innovation award for three years in a row a now. Previously, in 2014, the award went to Leong Ming Pei under the supervision of Siti Zarina Md Naziri with a project titled Image Encryption using FPGA. Back in 2013, Lim Yen Nee won the same award through a project called FPGA Based Fisheries Monitoring System for Tilapia.
CAS Innovation Award by IEEE Circuits and Systems Malaysia is an award that recognizes the outstanding final-year projects of higher education institutions from public and private sectors across Malaysia, which incorporated elements of innovation in theory and application, as well as circuit design.
Apart from this award giving ceremony, this event was also enlivened with IoT lecture session by Professor Dr Hiroo Sekiya from Chiba University, Japan; Chief Executive Director of REDtone IoT, Dr Mazlan Abbas; and Associate Professor Dr. Ku Zilati Binti Ku Shaari from UTP.
