Development Of UniMAP's Uniciti Alam Campus Attracts Polytechnics
PADANG BESAR, Jan 10 (Bernama) -- Universiti Malaysia Perlis' (UniMAP) success in developing the Uniciti Alam campus complete with students accommodation, at Sungai Chuchuh here, has attracted polytechnics to implement the same concept.
Department of Polytechnic Education director-general Datuk Mohlis Jaafar said the concept is feasible for the Technical Education and Vocational Training (TVET) system, especially to accommodate the number of students.
"The UniMAP Sungai Chuchuh concept complete with a residential college is impressive and I hope the same concept can be implemented in 33 polytechnics nationwide," said Mohlis who led senior officials of the Polytechnic Department to visit Uniciti Alam built on a 19.34-acre site yesterday.
Uniciti Alam consists of 480 apartment units measuring 860 square feet each and can accommodate 3,840 students taking Engineering and Technology Studies Programme and Diploma students.
The campus also has 92 shop units and offices for entrepreneurs from among UniMAP students doing business, said Kamarudin.
Proven Holding Berhad is the leading developer for Uniciti Alam.
