UniMAP CSR Programme Donates Solar Panel Technology

Tumpat, 24 January – Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) continued its commitment in carrying out corporate social responsibility (CSR) when it donated solar panel technology to its foster school here today.

The technology worth RM5,000 was delivered to Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Kampung Laut (SMKKL) when a UniMAP delegation headed by its Vice Chancellor visited the school.

UniMAP Vice Chancellor Brig. Jen. Datuk Prof Emeritus Dr Kamarudin Hussin said this was an effort to promote engineering research to the school teachers and students as well as giving them exposure to solar technology.

He stated that it involved two UniMAP engineering schools (PPK) namely Electrical System and Microelectronic.

“In this CSR programme, UniMAP also did something new in contributing a Digital Display Board to the school,” he said.

He was also proud of SMKKL's performance by being among the schools to excel in the Pentaksiran Tingkatan Tiga (PT3) examinations even though it was stricken by the flood disaster in December 2014.

“SMKKL is a school that was aided by UniMAP after dealing with the floods last year and I am proud of the fact that even after it was overwhelmed by a major disaster at the end of 2014, it succeeded in performing well in PT3,” he said during the SMK Kampung Laut gathering.

Also present were the Head of the Academic Sector of the Tumpat District Education Office (PPD) Alias Ismail and the Principal of SMKKL Puan Jamari Othman as well as over 1,000 students and teachers of the school.
