5,000 Visit UniMAP Booth
ALOR SETAR 30 January – About 5,000 attendees visited the Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) exhibition during the two days of the Jom Masuk IPT 2016 National Higher Education Carnival at the Perkarangan Stadium Darul Aman recently.
Chairman of the UniMAP Promotion Secretariat Prof. Madya Dr. Rizalafande Che Ismail said that the two-day carnival allowed institutes of higher education to promote and distribute the latest information to students especially those at the northern region of the peninsular.
“The carnival programme allows SPM/STPM/Matricuation leavers and Diploma holders to obtain precise information about higher education opportunities so they would be able to make the right decision.
“Besides that, it also lets UniMAP to directly meet and discuss with potential students about their prospective learning programmes as well as guide them in identifying opportunities and strategies to select a learning programme in the UPU system based on the result of their finals,” he said during the Jom Masuk IPT 2016 National Higher Education Carnival.
Also the Dean of the UniMAP School of Microelectronic Engineering, Rizalafande said that UniMAP offers 21 engineering programmes, 14 Engineering Technology programmes, two business programmes and one communication science programme.
“UniMAP will also introduce a new programme for this year's intake which is Bachelor of Chemical Engineering Technology (Food Technology).
“It is in line with the fourth shift of the PPPM (PT), 'Quality TVET Graduates'. UniMAP as one of the providers of the TVET programmes will certainly desire to offer these learning opportunities to students via the teaching and learning concepts applied by UniMAP,” he continued.
The carnival inauguration was officiated by the Minister of Higher Education Dato' Seri Idris Jusoh. Also present was UniMAP Vice Chancellor Brig. Jen. Datuk Prof Emeritus Dr Kamarudin Hussin.
The carnival that takes place from 30 January to 3 April 2016 across six zones nationwide will begin in Kedah and end in Selangor.
This involves a number of higher education agencies such as 20 Public Universities, Polytechnic Department of Education, Community College Department of Education, Private Institutes of Higher Learning and other agencies under the Malaysian Ministry of Higher Education.
