UniMAP Uphold Winnings at MTE 2016
Kuala Lumpur, February 20 - Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) has managed to retain their title for the fourth time in a row after winning seven gold medals at the Malaysia Technology Expo (MTE) 2016.
The Dean of Research and Innovation UniMAP, Prof. Dr. Syed Alwee Al Junid Syed Junid said the 100 percent success rate achieved is the same with their performance three years ago.
"We repeat the success obtained in 2012 and 2013 to reach 100 per cent when all 26 products were able to bring home a medal each.
“Two products that have received the gold medal also won the Best Award which is the Novel Hydroxyapatite (HAP) Nanoparticles Production By Supercritical Carbon Dioxide Processing For Drug Delivery Application research by Dr Midhat Nabil Ahmad Salimi and A Non-Invasive Cervical Cancer Detection Kit, a research product by Prof. Dr. Uda Hashim, "he said when met after the MTE 2016 prize giving ceremony, at the Putra World Trade Centre, here yesterday.
The prizes were given by the President of the Malaysian Association of Research Scientists (MARS), Dr. Mashol Wan Wan Zin.
Dr. Syed Alwee said that another five products that won the gold medal are Unisense: Internet Of Things For Multi-Sensing, a research by Dr. Latifah Munirah Kamarudin, Anti-THPRO: A Novel Invention For Anti-Thief And Heat Insulator For Electronic Devices, a product by Dr. Ragunathan Santiagoo; Geo-Sure-Grip High Performance Tile Grout, (Dr. Liew Yun Ming); CHICMON: Monitoring System For Early Signs Of Animal Ill-Health In Chicken Farm (Prof. Dr. Abu Hassan Abdullah) and Wireless Power (Dr. Syafruddin Hasan).
"Apart from the seven gold medals, UniMAP researchers also took home seven silver medals and 12 bronze medals," he added.
Meanwhile, at the same event, the former Vice Chancellor of UniMAP, Brig. Gen. Datuk Prof. Emeritus Dr. Kamarudin Hussin also received The MARS Service Award for his contributions of always being active in helping and promoting the products produced by researchers.
MTE 2016 took place on 18 to 20 February and is an annual research expo organized by MARS. 300 products from colleges, polytechnics, universities and schools from within and outside of the country competed in this event.
