‘THE FUTURE: FAST FURIOUS AND FISHY’ Shares Research Topics On Aquaculture
Pauh Putra, February 19 - The Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) Council of Professors has organized a research partnerships seminar in aquaculture and fisheries freshwater, brackish water and salt water at the Auditorium of Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra (PSFP) Library, here today.
The seminar, entitled The Future: Fast Furious and Fishy that was presented by the Lecturer and Coordinator of Aquaculture Unit, Prof Dr Ridzwan Abdul Rahman also shared with regard to the field that can be contributed by UniMAP in collaboration with the Fisheries Research Institute (FRI) under the Department of Fisheries Malaysia.
Among the areas are aquaculture, fishing, catches, aquatic ecology, biotechnology, health of fish and fishery product development.
According to Dr Ridzwan, among the research topics in aquaculture field includes technology improvements to the systems of livestock, breeding management systems, artificial reproduction techniques, breeding and multiplication of breeds.
"Moreover, other technologies such as food processing technology, food formulations using alternative protein, the development of central nucleus, orgasm diseases diagnosis techniques of livestock and in sea cage culture systems can also be used as a research topic.
"In short, a lot of researches can be done by UniMAP in areas related to aquaculture hence enables UniMAP to be the best research center in this field," he said.
The seminar was also attended by UniMAP heads of departments and nearly 100 students that have potential in carrying the research.
