Four Papers Presented at the New Media and Society Colloquium

Pauh Putra, March 7: Four papers were presented at the New Media and Society Colloquium organized by the University Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) Council of Professors in collaboration with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC).

The first presentation was done by the MCMC Head of Digital Surveillance Commission, Harme Mohamed titled "New Media: Issues, Challenges and Impact to Society".

The second presentation was from the UniMAP Dean of School of Computer and Communication Engineering, Prof. Dr. R. Badlishah Ahmad, entitled "Advancement of Information Technologies through New Media".

The remaining two presentations were given by the MCMC Head of Digital Communications and Coordination Program, Nor Akmar Shah Minan with the title "Smart Sustainable Community towards a Smart Digital Nation" and the Chairman of the Department of Planning Spectrum-Mobile Service Commission, Syed Khairulazrin Syed Khairuldin entitled “The Future of Mobile Broadband Enabling a Smart Digital Nation”

A discussion session entitled "Academic and Regulatory Aspiration on the New Media and Society in Malaysia" was also held earlier consisting of three panels who are the MCMC Chief Security Sector Network, Enforcement and Advocacy, Zulkarnain Mohd Yasin, UniMAP Assistant Vice Chancellor for Corporate Communications, Datin Prof. Dr. Zuraidah Mohd Zin and the Dean of the School of Human Development and TechnoCommunication (IKOM), Assoc Prof. Dr. Huzili Husin.

The one-day colloquium was held at the Faizuddin Tuanku Syed Putra Library Auidtorium.The event aims to share knowledge and produce thinkers from among professors in the northern part of Malaysia

The opening ceremony was officiated by the UniMAP Deputy Vice Chancellor of Research and Innovation, Assoc Dr. Abdul Hamid Adom. Dato Prof. 'Ali Yeon Md. Shakaff, the Chairman for UniMAP Council of Professors, was also present during the ceremony.
