UniMAP's A-HEART Raises RM500,000 To Build Autism Counselling Centre
PAUH PUTRA (ARAU), March 27 (Bernama) -- Universiti Malaysia Perlis' (UniMAP) Autism Hub for Educational Resources and Training (A-HEART) has raised RM500,000 to build an autism counselling centre at UniMAP's permanent campus here.
A-HEART founder Prof Emeritus Datuk Dr Kamarudin Hussin said A-HEART no longer focuses on the development of autistic children in UniMAP alone and is now extending its services to the people of Perlis.
"A-HEART registration has been open to families in need ... initiatives are being taken to develop the A-HEART UniMAP Autism Centre to build a brighter future for the autistic," he said at a A-HEART royal gala dinner at UniMAP's permanent campus here, last night.
The Raja Muda of Perlis, who is also UniMAP Chancellor, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail and UniMAP Pro-Chancellor Raja Puan Muda Perlis Tuanku Lailatul Shahreen Akashah Khalil attended the dinner.
Kamarudin, who is also special adviser to the Minister of Higher Education and former vice-chancellor of UniMAP, said UniMAP is very fortunate that Tuanku Syed Faizuddin and Tuanku Lailatul Shahreen have always supported UniMAP's various corporate social responsibility (CSR) projects.
"The chancellor and Tuanku Lailatul Shahreen have taken proactive steps to improve the impact of A-HEART through various sharing of information on the development and education of autistic children after a working visit to TreeHouse School, Eagle House School and Snowflake School around London.
