ICKHA 2016 a Platform to Increase TVET Expertise
Arau, 9 April – The International Colloquium on Korean High-Tech Application (ICKHA 2016) is a great platform in an effort to increase expertise and knowledge in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in line with the desires of the Ministry of Higher Education (KPT).
Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) Deputy Vice Chancellor Academic and International Dato’ Prof. Dr. Zul Azhar Zahid Jamal said that this is because ICKHA 2016 has become a strategic platform that assembles South Korean industrial and academic experts to form a high-impact industrial network.
He explained that the colloquium has also become a platform for UniMAP and other Malaysian Public Universities (UA) to jointly explore various possibilities in realising engineering and design technology and applications toward practical and commercial uses.
Through ICKHA 2016, research discussions would not be focused on only one or two disciplines, but will cover all research fields with the hope that it will bring about future cooperation among all research groups.
“The outcome of this conference will provide opportunities for our researchers and academics to pursue their doctorates (PhD) in South Korean universities, and also undergo industrial training in the country,” he explained in a speech during the ICKHA 2016 Opening Ceremony at the Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Library Auditorium in Pauh Putra today.
The Raja Muda Perlis Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Ibni Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Jamalullail who is also UniMAP Chancellor also graced the event with his presence to officiate the opening ceremony.
Also present was the Special Advisor to the Minister of Higher Education Datuk Prof. Emeritus Dr. Kamarudin Hussin as well as the UniMAP top management.

He said that based on the presentation by the Managing Director of Aerospace Composite Malaysia (ACM) Sdn. Bhd. Daniel Park, Korean corporations are constantly looking for opportunities to expand their technology into other countries to remain relevant in industry.
Besides that, he clarified that with high technology industry in other countries, it will indirectly provide job opportunities for communities and graduates of the nearby local Public Universities.
“To date the relationship between UniMAP and Korea has been very cordial and this is proven through Daniel Park's talk earlier which states that 40 percent of their engineers are UniMAP graduates.
“Meanwhile in field of technical expertise, 30 percent of them are UniMAP graduates and I hope that this colloquium will help UniMAP to revise its curriculum to the requirements of the industry and simultaneously increase UniMAP's reputation to a global level,” he continued.
Besides ACM, those who also shared their knowledge in ICKHA 2016 were Prof. Dr. Eom Joon Chul the President of Global Institute For Transferring Skills, Prof. Dr. Lee Byung Gook Professor from Dongseo University and Prof. Kwang Wookjung the Chief Executive Officer of Man. & Tel. Co. Ltd.
