UniMAP Celebrates 122 Recipients at AGS 2015

Pauh Putra, 1 April – Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) celebrated 122 students who greatly contributed to the university last year at the Anugerah Gemilang Siswa (AGS) 2015 Ceremony today.

The ceremony which was held at the Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Library Auditorium (PTSFP) was launched by UniMAP Deputy Vice Chancellor Student Affairs and Alumni (HEPA) Prof Madya Dr Mohd Fo’ad Sakdan.

According to Dr. Mohd Foad, AGS was organised as an initiative for UniMAP to appreciate the hard work and support from its students who also uphold the mission and the vision of the university.

“The management is certain that without the support and successes achieved by students at a national or international level it is impossible for UniMAP to be where it is now.

“In addition, appreciation is bestowed here with the intent that it may become an encouragement and a catalyst for other individuals to also be active in various activities,” he said in the AGS 2015 launching speech.

Also present at the ceremony were UniMAP Registrar Zuber Haji Mohamad and UniMAP HEPA Dean Prof Madya Razli Ahmad.

According to Dr Mohd Foad 36 awards in eight categories have been prepared for AGS 2015 including a new award being introduced namely the Ministry of Higher Education (KPT) Anugerah Keusahawanan Khas (Special Entrepreneurship Award).

“This award is an effort by the ministry and UniMAP to encourage and create students with the potential to become successful entrepreneurs and with the capacity to improve the national economy.

“These awards are given to students selected from Institutes of Higher Education (IPT) who perform business or entrepreneurial activities during their time studying at their university,” he said.

Meanwhile, the AGS 2015 Main Award, namely the Anugerah Tokoh Terbilang (Eminent Personality Award) was won by the Yang Dipertua of the Student Council (MPP) for the Academic Session 2014/2015 Farizah Abdul Rahman for her contribution in previously leading the UniMAP MPP.
