UniMAP Graduate Receives YTAR Award
KUALA LUMPUR, April 18 - Chua Seng Wei, a graduate of the Degree of Biosystems Engineering, Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP), won the Bronze Medal for the Tunku Abdul Rahman Foundation Award (YTAR).
The award was presented by the Minister of Higher Education, Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh in a ceremony held at the Tunku Abdul Rahman Memorial, here, yesterday.
According to Chua Seng Wei, the award does not only resemble appreciation to him, but also for UniMAP.
"I am very proud to be selected as the receiver of a prestigious award in our country. Eventhough I have entered the working world, I am thankful I can still make UniMAP proud.
"My hope is that more graduates will achieve higher awards, either gold or silver in the future," he said when contacted yesterday.
Chua Seng Wei, who now works as a cadet engineer at the IOI Group, bags home a cash prize of RM1,000 and a pure bronze medal weighing 32 grams.
Among the the criteria taken into consideration for the selection of the YTAR Award recepients are graduates must achieve a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of at least 3.80, and are very active and excellent in extra-curricular activity during their studies.
For the record, in 2014, a UniMAP graduate from the school of Microelectronic Engineering School, Umahwathy Sundararaju also received the same award.
