UniMAP Expand Cooperation with Educational Institution in Indonesia
Surabaya (Indonesia), August 2 - Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) through the Centre of Excellence Geopolymers & Green Technology (CEGeoGTech) expand research relationship in the field of engineering technology, electronics and manufacturing-based green material with two educational institutions in Indonesia.
The outcome of preliminary discussions between UniMAP, Petra Christian University (PCU) and Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) agreed to explore new cooperation, which was previously only focused on research and scientific publications.
Dean of UniMAP School of Microelectronic Engineering, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rizalafande Che Ismail said the agreement includes the organization of an international seminar with UniMAP - ITS in geopolymer field and green materials which scheduled next year, held in UniMAP.
In addition, he said, UniMAP and ITS have also agreed to strengthen the postgraduate students through the organization of summer camps that will focus on research, publications and journal production scheduled for next year in ITS.
"Another UniMAP-ITS collaboration is to provide training opportunities for UniMAP students in electronics industries in Surabaya starting from this year," he said after a working visit to the ITS Seminar in conjunction with the International Engineering Technology, Electronic Green Materials and Green Design Manufacturing at Swiss Belinn Hotel here.
Also present were Director of UniMAP Institute of Nanotechnology, Prof. Uda Hashim, Deputy Director of UniMAP Centre for the Industrial Cooperation and Government, Dr. Norhafiza Mohamad and CEGeoGTech Manager, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohd. Mustafa al-Bakri Abdullah.
The seminar that focused on three main areas of green technology successfully received 120 papers that will be published in indexed journals by Scopus and attended by 80 participants.
Furthermore, according to Dr. Rizalafande again, for UniMAP-PCU collaboration, the two institutions agreed to organize a special program that will focus on the challenges and industry exposure in Malaysia and Indonesia.
"The program called SPICE is scheduled to take place next year at the PCU with the target participants from academia and industry practitioners.”
"With the organization of these programs, UniMAP hope Malaysia-Indonesia cooperation will be closer, hence initiates green technology organizations in both countries," he said again.
